April 8 & April 10, 2008 - BEEKEEPERS EDUCATIONAL SEMINARS

To:       All Eastern Virginia Beekeepers and Those Interested in Beekeeping

From:   Rexford E. Cotton, Extension Agent, Agriculture, City of Suffolk

Re:       Beekeepers Educational Seminars

Dear Beekeepers and Potential Beekeepers:

Due to the 70% decline in the honeybee population across the state of Virginia and Southeastern United States and their importance in food production, Virginia Cooperative Extension has planned two important seminars.

These seminars are designed for experienced as well as potential new beekeepers.  Beekeepers and their spouses/or a teen age child are encouraged/urged to attend these important meetings as it is vital that at least two individuals per bee operation be knowledgeable of how to manage bees.

Please call 757/514-4330 or 757/514-4331 to register today.

It is our goal and we must get the honeybees numbers up to safeguard food production (fruit, vegetables and other crops throughout our area and Southeast United States.

I look forward to seeing you and a back up individual from your operation on April 8 and 10th at the National Guard Armory in Suffolk.
